Description
Islamiyat is the study of Islam, its beliefs, principles, and practices. It is a compulsory subject at the O Level curriculum for students of all faiths. Paper 2 of the O Level Islamiyat examination evaluates the candidate’s understanding of the core principles and practices of Islam.
In this paper, candidates are expected to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Islamic beliefs, practices, history, and contemporary issues. The main areas of focus include the Quran and its interpretations, the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the five pillars of Islam, Islamic civilization, and the Islamic way of life.
This paper is designed to evaluate the candidates’ ability to analyze and interpret Islamic texts, assess their knowledge of the significance of various Islamic practices and their relevance in contemporary society, and their ability to critically evaluate contemporary issues from an Islamic perspective.
To prepare for the O Level Islamiyat paper 2 examination, candidates should read and study the Islamic texts and teachings, understand the significance of Islamic practices and principles, and reflect on the relevance of these practices in contemporary times. Additionally, they should practice answering past papers to develop their analytical and critical thinking abilities.
